The BEC’s mission is to positively transform the economic, educational, and political landscape for Black residents in the Greater Charlottesville community. We envision an inclusive region, built on a network of trust, where resources are equitably stewarded to serve the Black community.
WHO WE ARE
The Black Empowerment Coalition (BEC) is an alliance of Black residents and Black organizations in the Greater Charlottesville community. We are united by our commitment to advance racial equity and Black empowerment by elevating Black voices, and encouraging, supporting, and developing Black leadership in the nonprofit and public sectors.
